Elite Academy League Inaugural Weekend
Liverpool Football Club IA SoCal academy teams played against Laguna United this weekend in our inaugural home opener of the season. As founding members of the Elite Academy League, our teams have been preparing to play since June 2020. With good news from Orange County that COVID-19 restrictions were lifted for sports, we had a great day out on the field.
The Elite Academy League’s objective as an Elite platform is to allow member clubs to promote the highest standards in competitive soccer and assist in developing top players inside the elite club’s player pool. We want to provide a seamless pathway of development for all top players who are motivated to establish themselves at all levels. Players will be expected to play at a higher level, against stronger competition, and held to higher standards, which we believe creates opportunities for players to grow.
On Saturday, our staff prepared the pitch for the full Elite Academy League Game Day experience and athletes played against great opposition from Laguna United. LFCIA SoCal teams demonstrated the Club’s values of commitment and unity while working together to play the Liverpool Way.
Paul Holohan, Academy Director of Coaching, shares that “Liverpool Football Club International Academy SoCal, are very excited to be a founding member, and looking forward to the launch of the Elite Academy League. With good football people coming together to collaborate and innovate and with elite clubs involved that know the standards required to enhance development. I have no doubt the future is bright for us in this league as it is committed to being the top player development league in the United States.”
